VARIA LAB · PRODUCT GUIDE
STEEP.
Make your first batch.
Choose a strength, prepare the bottle and learn how to taste and finish a refrigerated cold brew.

Start with coffee and water.
The bottle’s nominal volume is 750 mL. This starting recipe uses 700 mL of water, leaving room for the assembled basket and coffee. Choose the measured dose below for the strength you want to explore.
The ratios express coffee to water. Finished yield is lower than the water added because grounds absorb some liquid. The basket holds up to 60 g, so each of these starting doses fits within that capacity.
| Strength | Coffee dose | Coffee-to-water ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Light | 41.2 g | 1:17 |
| Balanced | 46.7 g | 1:15 |
| Strong | 53.8 g | 1:13 |
Keep both the dose and water quantity in your notes.

Coffee in the basket. Water through the spout.
Add the measured ground coffee to the basket. Secure it to the upper cradle and spout, then fit the assembly into the glass bottle.
Gently pour in 700 mL of water through the spout, secure the lid and gently invert the bottle to wet the grounds. Put the assembled bottle in the refrigerator for the steeping stage.
Prepare the batch once, then give it time.

Time is a variable you can taste.
Use the 8–24 hour refrigerated steeping window as your starting range. The closed basket lets you pour a small taste while the grounds remain contained.
When the brew reaches your preferred balance, remove the basket and cradle to end the infusion. Refit the spout and lid. Record the steeping time so the next batch begins from something you know.
Remove the basket when you want the infusion to finish.
Make the next change a small one.
Gently swirl or invert before serving, keep the finished brew refrigerated and enjoy it within 2–3 days.
For the next batch, keep the coffee and water familiar while changing one variable, such as dose or steeping time. Write down what you changed and what you preferred. This gives you a repeatable recipe for the coffee you are using.
A measured recipe makes the next batch easier.

Reset the bottle and filter.
Remove the spent grounds and separate the basket, cradle, spout and lid. Wash with mild dish detergent and a soft sponge, rinse thoroughly and dry before reassembly.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and pressure on the fine mesh. The manual permits dishwasher cleaning; secure the components and follow the dishwasher instructions. Check the silicone seals as you refit the assembly.
Clean, dry parts give the next batch a fresh start.
