Know your controls.

Learn what the grind dial changes, what speed changes and how the quick-release design makes routine care easier.

VS4 product design
The VS4 motor and drivetrain assembly

Grind size and speed do different jobs.

Grind adjustment changes the working gap between the 53 mm conical burrs. RPM changes how quickly the rotating burr turns. VS4 gives you stepless grind adjustment and a separate 150–300 RPM speed range.

Start with a fixed speed while you find a grind setting for a familiar coffee. Once the brew is established, speed becomes another variable you can compare. Record both controls so you know which setup produced the cup.

Learn the grind setting first. Explore speed second.

Lifting the VS4 quick-release hopper

Open the hopper. Keep your setting.

The quick-release hopper and grind adjustment are separate mechanisms. You can open the hopper to reach the burrs without turning the grind dial or losing your selected position.

This makes a useful distinction in daily care: access lets you inspect and clear the path; adjustment changes the grind. Removing or replacing the complete burr assembly is a deeper service operation and requires the manual’s refitting and calibration checks.

Routine hopper access preserves the selected grind position.

Build a reference you can repeat.

Weigh a dose and start with a recipe you know. Choose a speed, grind the coffee and brew. Record the coffee, dose, burr set, grind position, RPM and beverage yield or poured water.

Keep the recipe and speed constant while you make small grind adjustments. Each marked division corresponds to approximately 10 μm of mechanical burr movement. That is an adjustment reference, rather than a particle-size guarantee. Use the manual to establish zero and never grind at burr contact.

Keep the recipe beside the grinder settings.

Understand what is left behind.

Static is electrical charge that can make grounds cling. Retention is coffee that remains inside the grind path. They can be related, but they are different parts of the workflow.

VS4 combines a near-vertical path, low-adhesion surfaces, bellows-assisted clearing and active ionisation. These features help coffee move through the grinder. Check the collected dose and keep the chamber clear when moving between coffees.

A clear grind path helps the next dose start fresh.

Brushing loose grounds from the VS4 chamber

A small reset for the next brew.

Switch off and unplug the grinder. Open the quick-release hopper and use the supplied brush to clear loose grounds from accessible surfaces. Refit the hopper securely before reconnecting power.

For deeper cleaning, the chamber, driveshaft and bearing assembly can lift out together through the bayonet connection. Follow the model-specific procedure for removal, seating and calibration. Quick access and full servicing are separate operations.

Use quick hopper access for routine care; follow the manual for deeper servicing.
