VARIA LAB · PRODUCT GUIDE
Burrs.
Choose with a clear reference.
Start with compatibility. Understand geometry and coating, then compare a new set with the coffee you know.

Begin with your grinder.
A burr set must fit the grinder’s specified platform. Product names and diameter alone do not establish compatibility across VS3, VS4 and VS6.
Find your model first, then choose the listed format. VS6 supports two separate architectures: factory 58 mm flat burrs and compatible optional 63 mm conical assemblies. VS3 and VS4 use their own conical platforms.
| Grinder | Burr format | Selection reference |
|---|---|---|
| VS3 | Model-specific conical set | VS3-listed Supernova or Hypernova family |
| VS4 | 53 mm conical set | VS4-listed burr collection |
| VS6 | 58 mm flat or optional 63 mm conical | Choose the VS6 format before the family |
Choose a set explicitly listed for your model.

Understand the cutting path.
Flat burrs use two facing cutting surfaces. Conical burrs use a central cone within an outer ring. Those architectures create different paths through the coffee, while the exact tooth design gives each set its own cutting geometry.
Clarity, body, sweetness and texture are useful things to compare in the cup. A format label is a starting direction for that comparison, rather than a complete description of the result.
Compare the exact burr set within its compatible platform.
Read the whole specification.
Supernova, Hypernova, Hypernova ULTRA and Kilonova describe options in the Varia collection. Their available geometries and coatings differ by grinder and format.
A coating is one part of the specification. Cutting geometry, burr gap, rotation speed and brewing recipe matter too. Check the exact listing and matching selector before deciding what you want to explore.
Model, format and exact set name belong together.
Give the new burrs their own dial-in.
First record a brew you enjoy with your current set: coffee, dose, burr set, grind position, speed where adjustable, water or beverage yield, and your tasting notes.
After fitting another set, follow the manual’s calibration procedure and establish a fresh grind reference. The previous dial number may not give the same result. Compare the new brew against the familiar recipe, keeping the coffee and other brewing variables as consistent as you can.
A fair comparison starts with a useful reference for each set.
Let the model-specific instructions lead.
Disconnect power before changing electric-grinder burrs. Use the fitting instructions for your grinder and assembly, including the correct position of shims, washers and other supplied parts.
Clean mating surfaces, refit the assembly correctly and check calibration before brewing. The selectors can help you choose; the manual provides the fitting and servicing procedure. If compatibility is unclear, contact Varia with your model and the exact set name.
Compatibility and calibration come before the next brew.
