VS4 / INSIDE THE DESIGN
A grinder you can get inside.
Good coffee invites a closer look. With VS4, that curiosity extends from the adjustment dial to the chamber beneath it.
Varia Brewing · Product stories
A grinder is part of a routine long before its first adjustment. Weigh the beans. Find the cup. Decide what to brew. Then the small changes begin: a finer setting for one coffee, a different speed for another, a note to return to tomorrow.
VS4 brings these decisions into a compact set of physical controls. Its stepped silhouette gives the adjustment dial room at the top and a direct path to the dosing cup below. At the centre is a 53 mm conical burr set, driven by a brushless motor.
Open the hopper. Keep the reference.
The quick-release hopper opens independently of the grind adjustment. That separation has a practical purpose: looking into the chamber does not have to start with unwinding the setting you have just found.
Access also makes the grinder easier to understand. The parts that guide the beans, the burrs that do the work and the surfaces that collect coffee are visible rather than abstract. Routine hopper access and deeper burr servicing are different operations; the model-specific instructions explain when and how to go further.
Give each adjustment a purpose.
VS4 offers stepless grind adjustment and a speed range of 150–300 RPM. Those controls create room to explore, but changing everything at once makes a result harder to interpret.
Start with a coffee and a recipe you know. Keep dose and water consistent, change one setting, and taste the difference. Recording the setting and speed gives the next brew a useful reference. No dial number can stand in for the coffee in front of you.
A routine that includes care.
The last action of a session matters too. Once the grinder is switched off and disconnected, the access described in the manual lets cleaning become part of the routine. Follow the instructions for the removable parts and their return to position.
The appeal of an accessible mechanism is simple: you can learn the tool while you use it. With VS4, the everyday controls and the chamber beneath them are parts of the same conversation.
